Field Trips & Visiting
There are so many opportunities to learn outside of the classroom!
Here on the farm, opportunities to learn can be seen anywhere.
Beginning with the chicken coops, students may tour the outside land, observing the ecosystem within the coops that keep things in motion. To give our junior farmers a rich experience, outdoor pens have been established for "Field Days". As health regulations are strict, students may not enter the indoor coops, so we have developed an "outside the box" view. Students will be able to observe the animals, their feeding and watering systems and how our Free Range coops thrive all year long. Opportunities to "gather eggs", observe the workings of how thousands of eggs are collected, cleaned, packaged and distributed on a daily basis.

Seasonally, during Spring and Summer months, the gardens and hiking trails will be open to tour. Students have the opportunity to work in the garden, tour the greenhouses, work in the garden beds, and plant their own vegetables in pots for taking home.

Depending on what is available within the garden, students will have the opportunity to craft their own "garden snack" from vegetables, berries, and edible flowers on the land.

Our farm sits on about 20 acres of land, rich with opportunities for learning and exploration. There are trails that wind through the farm, filled with artifacts of the past, a chance for observation, foraging, plant identification and hiking.

Visiting the farm for a Field Trip will be an outdoor day. Students will spend a majority of time in the fields, near the coops, within the gardens and on the hiking trails. Students are to dress responsibly, with lightweight clothing that's comfortable for a day of farming.
